ESDSAR

(Era Silver Deep SpAce RADAR)

The ESDSAR (Essd-Saar) is a unique imaging unit found almost exclusively on Linebreakers, and even then, almost solely on the new Cerberus units. The Era Silver, while seemingly built for Deep Space imaging as it name implies, was in fact designed for air and land imaging; it is capable of DS imaging, though. What sets the Era Silver apart from other atypical imaging units is that it is less a RADAR and more of a literal imaging unit- it primarily scans the directed area and displays the return as a three dimensional image, allowing operators to ascertain more information with just a quick glance; relative altitude and velocities are readily apparent in three dimensions, eliminating the requirement of on-screen data and enabling faster reaction to targets.

Era Silver also incorporates a secondary housing, disassembled, in the Linebreaker's fuselage. In these compartments lay the complex imaging mechanisms and the Deep Space Imaging surface itself, with a mirror-like silver sheen, giving it its name. Era Silver's DS surface is capable of imaging orbital fleets in the same sort of three dimensional view as its land-based imaging unit can, as well as image in a less detailed form fleets several hundred thousand kilometers away; it is even capable of limited Deep Space RADAR function, extending even further away than its imaging suite can handle.

Era Silver functions hand in hand with the Linebreaker's triple FCS system (Type I Skylight Mod G Derivative FCS, Primary; Type C Independent High-Load FCS, Secondary; Mk. VIII Ballistic Trajectory and Telemetry FCS, Auxiliary) though the Type C IHL FCS is somewhat underpowered in the Cerberus units, as these units lack the massive gun batteries of the Linebreaker units proper. As for the Mk. VIII BT² FCS, Era Silver's sheer processing power typically fills in for the generally secondary missile control system, allowing for a broader acquisition range and higher accuracy without assistance from nearby allied AWACS, Airborne Fortresses, ground RADARs, or other Coronet Tiger units themselves. With the Deep Space Imaging Unit fully erected and deployed, the sheer receiving surface offers enough data for a lone Linebreaker to engage targets at orbital range, with all of its heavy weapons such as the Ultra-22/Ultra-60, its missile systems, or the Cerberus' new alternate payloads.
